Cops probe claim Malaysian drug suspect in Nigeria set up by daughter

Bukit Aman narcotics crime investigation department (NCID) director Hussein Omar Khan said efforts to trace the woman’s daughter are ongoing, Bernama reported.
Hussein said police had been informed of the arrest by Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
International media reported that the woman was detained on May 17 after allegedly attempting to smuggle 31kg of “Canadian Loud” cannabis into Nigeria through Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The woman, a naturalised Malaysian citizen, is understood to have arrived in Nigeria on a flight from Thailand via Dubai carrying two large suitcases of the illicit substance.
During questioning, the woman claimed the trip had been sponsored by her daughter and that she had stayed in Thailand for about two weeks before receiving the suitcases for delivery to Nigeria.
